    Join the Library for the 1st Annual Winter Reading Challenge! SPPL encourages everyone to curl up with a good book and read through the school winter break and the coldest months of the year. Log the books you read between December 15 and January 31 on the Library’s Beanstack app or a paper log and be entered into prize drawings. All ages can participate—register to receive a welcome swag bag.

  1. "An Absolute Moral Certainty": The Woman Suffrage Movement in North Carolina

    January 29, 2020, 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM

    The League of Women Voters of Moore County and Southern Pines Public Library will host the State Archives of North Carolina exhibit, “An Absolute Moral Certainty”: The Woman Suffrage Movement in North Carolina” on Wed. Jan. 29. The exhibit includes the original copy of the Nineteenth Amendment, usually housed in the vault, that was sent to North Carolina for ratification in June of 1919. Display hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  1. Preschool Stories

    January 29, 2020, 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM

    Preschool Stories: A-B-C’s and 1-2-3’s (for children ages 3-5 years) will be held Wed., Jan. 8, 15, 22, and 29. Join us at 10:30 a.m. at the Library and stay for playtime. Children and their caregivers enjoy books, songs, rhymes, and activities while building language and socialization skills to prepare for Kindergarten. Capacity is limited to 25 children and their caregivers per session, and check-in with a valid SPP Library card is required.

  2. Toddler Tunes

    January 30, 2020, 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM

    Toddler Tunes: Music and Motion (for children ages 18 months to 36 months) will be held Thurs., Jan. 9, 16, 23, and 30 at the Library (no program Jan. 2) at 10:30 a.m. This program incorporates stories and songs along with dancing, playing, and games to foster language and motor skill development. Capacity is limited to 25 children and their caregivers per session, and check-in with a valid SPP Library card is required.
